This tutorial shows you how to 'port' code and setup from the Arduino UNO R3 to the Arduino MEGA R3.

Precondition

Layout of UNO R3 and MEGA R3:

Software

If you haven't changed any Pin-configuration there is no need to change anything with the code! :D

Consider this:

• use D22-D53 [D49] before using the additional pins [D100...]
• every Pin from D2 to D13 is capable of PWM!
  it is possible to change the prescaler and therefore raise the PWM value for PIN_MOTOR_SPE to the recommended 31 kHz [this shouldn't be done on UNO!!!!]
  If you use the default D5 pin the upgrade would work like this:

  TCCR3B &= ~7;
  TCCR3B |= 1;
  //[...]
  }

  Please keep in mind that this affect the pins D3 and D2 aswell!

Hardware

There are some things you have to consider due to the fact that the MEGA has more pins :P
Most shields can be applied directly ;)

• the pins used for shield communication aren't D11 (D10) to D13! they are D51 (D50) to D53!! you shouldn't use them :/
• I²C communication isn't handled by A4 (SDA) and A5 (SCL)! It works via the communication pins 20 (SDA) and 21 (SCL)
• the MEGA has 4 hardware-serial ports! (3 (2, one is used for the basic RB14Scan communication by Default :D) of them for custom use)
• you are able to use the full range of 16 Analog In pins!
